Shinrin - Yoku & Our Favourite Woodland Hikes

Shinrin - Yoku & Our Favourite Woodland Hikes

DId you know the Japanese have a word for “Forest Bathing”? They refer to it as Shinrin-yoku. It translates to that feeling of losing yourself in amongst the trees, enjoying the sounds, scents and fresh air that nature has to offer around you. Walking amongst the forest and nature is probably one of the healthiest things you can do.

The experience of scents and smells of woodlands can have a powerful effect on our health and emotions. It has been proven that scents of pine, fir, cedar and cypress trees contain the phytoncides such as alpha-pinene and beta-pinene which make up the essential oils of many plants and trees. These were found to decrease levels of the cortisol stress hormone.

There is such a strong healing power of walking through the woods and probably why hiking & hill walking has increased in popularity over the past year. We have a fantastic range of Autumn Candles & scents inspired by the outdoors.

We also have a selection of fragrances inspired by Autumn from previous years including Woodland Road Trip & Autumn Sunset. #FallInLoveWithYC is a collection filled with scents of the outdoors and the comforts Autumn has to offer. We have been inspired and have put together a list of our favourite Woodland Forest Walks in Ireland.
